Why did God create “PARENTS”?
To teach us, what it is to be loved unconditionally.
To teach us, what it is to put someone else before us.
To teach us, what it is to smile even though inside it might be hurting.
To teach us, what it is to give up that last morsel of your favourite cake for someone.
To teach us, what it is to stay up late, just so someone else can sleep peacefully.
To teach us, what it is to work work and work just to provide for someone else.
To teach us, what it is to handle so many versatile roles.
But, today I wish they did more than all of this.
Today, I wish they had lived for themselves,
And let the life teach us all this.
Today, I wish, they had put themselves before me.
Today, I wish, they cried a bit while they were hurting from inside,
So, I could lend them my shoulder or my handkerchief.
Today, I wish they could have enjoyed that last morsel of their favourite cake,
I could have had it some time later.
Today, I wish, they took care of their bodies while also taking care of Us.
Today, I wish, they took a vacation, all by themselves and rediscover the joy of having each other.
Today, I wish, of all the roles that they played, the best be the roles of husband and wife.
Today, I wish to tell them, even if they did all this,
I would still love them unconditionally.
If they did not rush to pick me up, when I fell down and allowed me time to get up,
I would still love them unconditionally.
If once in a while, they didn’t sent me a lunch box to school, because of a tired or a lazy morning,
I would still love them unconditionally.
If they did not always heed to my demands,
I would still love them unconditionally.
If they took that vacation without me, since my exams were nearing,
I would still love them unconditionally.
One thing which I have learnt in all these years,
Is that the most important thing they did for me,
Is made me a good human being, with correct values and sensibilities.
They gave me the right tools to move forward in life,
In the form of Courage, Principle, Knowledge, Strength to withstand worst storms.
All that I am today, I owe it to them.
For I take pride to be a bit of them both rolled into One.
Please take care of yourself at least now, while we will handle everything else down here.
