Out on her walk one winter day,
There came a stranger on her way.
Tall and handsome, better than the rest,
To get another look, she tried her best.
Who was he? Hailed from where?
Being a stranger, should she care?
Out on a walk the very next day,
Returned the stranger crossing her way.
Hesitant to meet with an excuse, lame,
He went ahead and asked her name.
Reluctant though she had initially been,
Soon together they were often seen.
No news of him, had he disappeared?
Her world would crumble, she had feared.
Befriending a stranger, she was to blame.
Had she become another ‘old flame’?
Days went by, then months passed too,
As to where he was, she had no clue.
Out on a walk one fine day,
Back came the stranger on her way.
Her conflicting mind tore her apart.
To ignore or face was the difficult part.
Explained the stranger, remorse in his voice,
‘Situation that day had left him no choice’.
Soberly she listened to all he had to say
Uttering no word, she went her way.
He never gave up, hoped for a miracle
Dreamed of the day, they’d be a couple.
Strange they knew are the ways of life,
‘Stranger’ and she are now husband and wife!
