I was, what I am
A heart, full of love and the mask of a sham.
Like you wanted me to look like
The mirror shrieks with a repulsive fright
You basked in roses and cards
I would sing the verses of bard
You wanted me to show my feel
Love's no condition, not a deal
But still my face would fake
All the blows, it would take
The saviour is my mask of a sham,
The mask, of the most foolish sham.
I won't be, what I am
The love still there, but not the sham,
Look through my heart to pierce your mind
But juices come with an amount of rind.
Seize your face and feel my warmth
The cooling sky and the burning hearth
I would take you down my own lane
Forget the man, who appeared sane,
But, lest you leave my hand again,
I still wear the mask of a sham
The Foolish Sham.
