One last time, how she wished. One last time if she could talk to her, hold her hand and ask her what was troubling her so bad. One last time if she could keep all her ego and fears behind and could walk up to her and speak to her.
Angie regretted each of those moments when she chose to sit back at home and watch movies instead of responding to her sister’s messages who continuously begged her to meet one time. She had something to tell her, desperately. But all Angie could remember was the fight they had. That she won’t talk to her until Bonnie decides to get back to work and settle in life after whatever happened in her life. Angie was hell bent on making her get back to life and live it to the fullest. A miscarriage was just an incident. She would become a mother again. Soon, very soon. But Bonnie wouldn’t listen.
Angie chose to ignore the messages that Bonnie sent to tell her, “You better listen to your elder sister! I am annoyed with you and will remain so till the time I do not see you happily getting back to work and living your life with equal enthusiasm and zest like you used to.” She switched off her Whatsapp and started watching her usual TV series.
About an hour later, Angie’s phone rang when Mitesh called to inform that Bonnie was no more.

A week later, Angie sat in front of her God and kept weeping. “Will I never get to know what she wanted to tell me? Will you keep punishing me for being the elder sister to Bonnie? You know how much I loved her and she was my best friend? How can you be so ruthless with me?” The guilt of not talking to her sister was killing her from within. She couldn’t breathe.
She switched on her Whatsapp and found hundreds of condolence messages pouring in. As she subconsciously started scrolling through the list of messages, she found messages from Bonnie. Her last messages to her dear sister.
“I do not know what is happening to me. Just want to sit with you and talk to you. I know you are angry with me but for how long? I know you will pick up the phone in sometime and give me a call back.”
“I called my office. They will offer me a new project. I will not be required to work on all days. I can rest and work at the same time. Happy, are you, now?”
“Now what? You are not talking to me. Why? I am being the usual obedient one. You baby sister. Please call or message. Please. Please. Pretty please!”
“This is too much now. You think you can survive without talking to me. Now, prove it! I am not going to talk to you. Tit for tat, sister!”
No more messages.
Angie looked at her God again, smiled but her tears never stopped….
