Based on Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost
Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Thousands of light years away, in the womb of the galaxy Andromeda, a cosmic revolution was ready to take birth. Just like stardust sprinkled in the atmosphere glitters in the form of Aurora lights on earthen skies, in that distant world, a divine golden light was expected to shower upon the inhabitants a stream of blessings, hope, rejuvenation and rebirth.
The planet’s caretaker Cassalo was in a state of a frenzied, expectant, hopeful anticipation. Their messiah, their warrior of golden light was due to step on their barren planet and soothe the thirsty, dying, pleading land.
It had been predicted by Cassalo that a new Metalso would bless their world during the tenth day of the eleventh month and it would be their miracle to end their suffering. The brown, parched lands would be revived to reflect the green of prosperity and abundance.
A huge crowd of expectant onlookers had gathered at the central square. The mob was curious to witness the arrival of their new Angelo-Metalso. Shooting stars blazed, one after another in the glowing skies, signifying the beginning of the Golden Hour. A plethora of wishes were murmured for them to carry and bring to life. Their light was all powerful; all consuming in its sheer splendor. Experience had taught the Metalsos to shield themselves from the spectacular light, while at the same time fervently praying for their wishes to come true. But now that their angel was about to arrive, the prayers echoed a common voice for his safety and health.
As the tenth day began in its auspiciousness, a huge hush fell upon the silent, reverent crowd.
The dying star Supergnoiva, went out with a fiery spark, giving birth to a bright yellow, dense and soft Metalso. It landed with the help of a giant parasol. Nature Green smiled and showered her blessings upon the world of Metalso in the form of rainbows of Absinthe.
‘Welcome to our planet, Aurum. As per my divine knowledge, your light should help us live for seventy-nine more years. Our crops of hope needed you and we, the people of Metalso are very grateful to Supergnoiva’, bowed Cassalo.
‘Oh. You are welcome. But, how do you know my name? And why seventy-nine years in particular?’ asked a curious Aurum.
‘Aurum is carved on your back. The number seventy-nine is visible too. It is just above the name and you will be known as ‘Au’ in our land.’ Seventy nine is the number we associate with our deity, our goddess Andromeda, and it is this number that has come to our rescue, today!
‘Well, okay. Why are you all wearing those shields?’
‘Nature is having a hard time here. Our land is barren, devoid of fertility and your light is the sprinkle of hope we need. However, we cannot hold you for too long as you are simply too powerful for our fragile systems. The shield we possess protects us. We are told to let you go as soon as you fulfill your purpose. Nature’s first leaf will always have your golden shade. Do not worry, we will not forget you. Soon, the world of Metalso will subside to its original form with a key difference. With happiness and light.
Aurum’s heart sank a little on hearing those words. He knew he had to go. So that he could bring life to another planet.
His next words earned him great applause:
I am reminded of the whisper by Supergnoiva: ‘Remember child, nothing gold can stay. Come back soon’.
He restored his composure and declared:
‘Let there be a glow of life, forever!’
Upon the chanting of this magical mantra, the land of Metalsos began sprouting new seeds and the tired, wrinkled earth was given a new lease of life. The world of Metalsos was bathed in gold, and they thanked him for bringing back their happiness.
Au thanked them too, held his parasol, chanted a NovaPrayer and left for a different world as he had now fulfilled his purpose.
As the ascending began, he heard a whisper :
Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
He smiled and thanked Supergnoiva for giving him a chance to bless their world, even if it was for a short time.
