"What? Another collection of sea stories?"
"Yes!" They believe that the sea holds an abundance of tales, as diverse as the colours and moods of the oceans themselves.
Having spent over 40 years as a seafarer, Beetashok Chatterjee feels a deep connection to the sea and a desire to give something back. He sees himself as a narrator or raconteur, driven to share stories about the sea.
Their previous collection, titled Driftwood—stories washed ashore (2019), consisted of stories about the sea and modern seafarers. However, these stories were not limited to seafarers alone. They were meant for anyone who enjoys reading fiction, encompassing tales of adventure, love, romance, piracy, intrigue, and the complexities of human nature.
The author's latest collection, Wind Chimes by the Sea—stories blown ashore, continues in the same vein. These fresh stories, infused with the essence of the sea, have arrived from the vast oceans, ready to transport readers to another world. The stories aim to provide a glimpse into life at sea, both past and present. They cover a range of topics, including the era of tall sailing ships, the 1971 Indo-Pak war, a sailor's experience in a city consumed by darkness, battling Covid at sea, a crew navigating a frozen and hostile country, and the horrors of a severe storm at sea.
With the invitation to come aboard and embark on this voyage, Chatterjee assures readers that the journey is about to begin. He invites readers to immerse themselves in the pages of Wind Chimes by the Sea, where the secrets of the sea unfold and the wonders of the maritime world await.
