Inside the womb of ocean, she sits in trance,

Her hands folded, her body charred.

She trembles, when echoes, the waves of ocean,

Time has come. Time has come.

The face of globe pulls the pale moon,

Blanketed in velvety gleams, it was in full bloom.

Out, she comes from the sunless sea; riding high on the arm of the wind.

Donning the cloak ashen, her spirit flies in the cloudless sky.

Alighted on the Vale of flowers; Bathed in the brilliance of the moonlight.

She culls the pansies and the peonies; far in the distance

Her baby plays on the damp prairie.

No one saw. No one gaped. Blessed she felt;

When she held him in her formless hand.

Tears of ecstasy heal their hearts.

Duo remains immersed in the nectar of love.

A mournful lullaby, she sings to baby; medley of eternal love and longing.

A rainbow has a short life; rivers may emerge or vanish,

We’re bound by primeval lifetimes.

Oh! My son, ‘You’re my happiness. You’re my smile.’

Deep inside, lies in the chamber of my heart,

A place so pure, a place so serene,

No one but. It belongs to thee.

From their tale of undying love, born plentiful folklores,

From a fireball of war, between,

The nature and the mankind; a cloud burst atop the mountain.

Mercilessly, the water departed, engulfing the bustling life, leaving the debris,

On both the sides of dense valley, fell

Trudging caravan of pilgrims and natives.

She was one of them; clenching her child to her bosom,

She wished to reach the safe heavens.

She breathed her last in the river water; her crimson veil hid all the horror.

Reduced to the deathbed of many, the holy valley lightened with copious pyres.

Appareled in the celestial light, cried

Her soul; wearing the ‘mask of worry and woe’,

‘Where is my child? Where is my child?’

She cursed the heavens of all its glory;

It witnessed fierce parting of a mother and a baby.

Saddened; the sky resigned; we, the ‘spectrums of life’,

‘Earth, moon, fire, water, and I’, vow to share your plight.

Hereupon, we bless thee. In the hours of darkness,

Thou shall depart your clandestine abode,

Every full moon night, visit thou orphaned lad.

Stunned, she said, ‘Why shall thou change the rules?’

When I am now, Just a robbed soul.

It wasn’t time for you to die. Proclaimed, the sky,

‘You’ve every right to love thou child.

A mother’s devotion to her child is the most selfless.’

It infiltrates borders and transcends lifetimes.

We, the five elements, nurture mankind,

In turn, it creates concrete wilds.

The dying flora and the fauna, the fragile rivers,

Their mouths fed with haphazard construction.

Nature’s fury, for the mortals, is a lame excuse.

For us, it’s an act of maintaining decorum.

Humans give materialistic gains, undue importance,

They forget. ‘Riches divide,’

‘For life to blossom, a kind heart is the only choice.’
