When Ajit started his bike and was about to move, someone came and sat on the back seat. He looked behind and was surprised to see a young girl.
"Please drop me at the Medical Trust Hospital. "She said.

Seeing the tension on her face, he did not say anything. He was going to go in the same direction anyway. He ran the bike toward the Medical Trust Hospital.

Ajit understood that the girl was in some serious trouble. Otherwise, the girls would not ask for a lift, in the city of Cochin, which was modern but socially traditional to a large extent. But he did not ask her anything.
Ajit stopped the bike at the hospital gate.
Saying "thanks, " the girl went inside the hospital quickly.
Ajit saw her from behind. Now he noticed that the girl was wearing a green corridor suit. The girl looked attractive. When the girl disappeared from his view, he too moved towards his destination. On the way, he kept thinking that he ought to have asked her what troubled her.
Ajit moved to Cochin from Kanpur three years ago. He opened a small ready-made garment shop named Kamala Fashion in the city's mini-mall. He had rented a flat in the Gandhinagar Colony in the middle of the town. The shop was located on the main road, slightly ahead of the Medical Trust Hospital. At that time, he was going to the shop. He got busy with the work after reaching the shop.

Ajith, lying on his bed at night, started thinking about the girl. Her dusky troubled face and visions of her going inside the Hospital came in front of his eyes. He started thinking that probably some close relative of that girl would be ill and admitted there. He wished he had talked to her and knew her troubles.
The next day again, he stopped his bike near the gate of the Hospital, and looked around, hoping that the girl might come there, but she did not come. It was time for him to open the shop, so he did not stay there for long and moved on.
The next day on his way to the shop, he again stopped his motorcycle near the hospital.
A bus stopped near the gate, and the same girl came out of it. She had a big bag in her hand. She swiftly went to the hospital. Ajit did not know her name, so he could not call her. By the time Ajith could think of something, she disappeared into the crowd.

The next day was Sunday. His friend Manjeet invited him to lunch. Manjeet was a resident of Delhi and lived in a rented house in Panampilly Nagar with his wife Sona. Manjeet and Sona ran a boutique. Manjit was here before Ajit came to Cochin and was well versed in the city.

Sona opened the door for Ajit.
Ajith smiled and folded his hand and said, " Namaste, sister-in-law."

Sona smiled and said, " Hello, come in. "

"Where is Manjit ?" Ajit asked as he came inside.
"You sit in the drawing-room, he will come now."

Ajit sat down and started turning the pages of the newspaper. Manjeet arrived in a while. He had a bottle of beer in his hand. Sona knew that Ajit would not drink, so she brought an empty glass for Manjit and a glass of juice for Ajit and placed it on the table.
"How are you ?" Manjeet asked, filling in the beer glass.
Sona went inside to prepare food.

Ajit took a sip of juice and said, " Okay."
“Manjeet, a strange incident happened to me recently. Ajit said.
"What happened ?" Manjit asked eagerly.
Ajit told about the girl taking the lift and going to the hospital.
Manjeet said with a laugh, " You get married now. There will be no free space on your bike for lift. No girl will ask you for a lift nor will any such confusion arise. "
Meanwhile, Sona came and asked, " Should I bring food here or keep on the dining table.
Manjeet said, "If you eat with us, on the dining table, otherwise right here." "
"Okay, I serve food here. I will eat later .” saying this Sona went inside.
After a while, Sona brought puri, vegetable, and kheer in two plates and kept it on the table, and went away.

After eating food with Manjit, Ajit returned to his residence. Sona Bhabhi had made delicious food, and Ajit had eaten much. He was feeling lazy now. He lay in bed to rest for a while, but he fell asleep and slept.

It was evening when he woke up.
Then he slept late at night.
In the morning he went to the shop. This time he did not stop at the medical trust.

By midday, the market went well, and then it became tardy. Ajit has had a salesgirl in the store. Her name was Shalu. One day Shalu said, " Sir, keep one more sales girl. The work has increased compared to before. "

Ajit was also beginning to feel the need. He told Shalu, "I too think so. We can give ads in the newspaper. "
Shalu said, “I know a girl. I think she's a good girl. She is in dire need of a job. If you say, I will call her. You will find good salesgirl, and she will get a much-needed job. "

Ajit said, "Okay, call her.
Shalu calls Sarika. He told her about the job and asked her to come to the shop in the evening.
Shalu told Ajith, "She will come at 5 in the evening.
Ajit said, "Okay."
Then some customers came to the shop. Ajit and Shalu got busy with the customers.
At around 4 pm, a 20-21-year-old girl entered the shop. Ajit was shocked to see her. It was the same girl whom Ajit was very curious about. Shalu had gone somewhere in between.
That girl was also surprised to see Ajit.
She came to Ajit and said to him, "Namaste, my name is Sarika. My friend Shalu told me that you need a salesgirl. I have come to you for this job. "
Ajit asked in detail about Sarika and her family.
Sarika told him that She used to go to the hospital to take care of her younger brother Bhanu. Bhanu had dengue. Her family had four members. Sarika, her grandmother Lakshmikutty, mother Maya, and younger brother Bhanu. Sarika's father Raman Kutty had died a few years ago. Raman Kutty, like many of his companions, left for the Gulf countries in search of a better future. But distant drums are pleasant. Things had changed for the worse there. He returned after working for a few years in a construction company in Dubai. Barely could he save so much that he paid the loans off? He got addicted to drinking. For want of money, he started drinking cheap quality liquor.
One night he sat down to drink. Suddenly, Raman Kutty had severe pain in his stomach and started dodging his head. After a while, he vomited blood and rolled to the ground. Maya immediately rushed her husband to a government hospital. They immediately admitted him and started treatment. Doctors told Maya that Nine hooch cases had come there. Doctors informed that all those people, including Raman Kutty, had become seriously sick by drinking poisonous liquor. Four out of ten people barely survived. Maya lost her husband, and Sarika lost her father. "

Sarika fell silent after telling her life's story.

Ajit felt sorry for Sarika. He hired her and gave her three months' advance salary without asking.

Sarika was happy to get a job and financial help without asking.
Ajith's restlessness was gone, and he felt better by helping Sarika.
