“When the moon is full, it looks like a zero. Life is round at the end.” When we hear these lines we think about the circle of life. What seems to be the conclusion could also be the commencement of something new. The significance of a circle may also lie in the fulfilment of one’s life, that is if one considers its symbolization with the “full circle” of life as we know it.
The moon is a beautiful celestial object. It is full of numerous craters which show’s human kind the continuous life cycle it is undergoing. It gives us humans a lesson that, growth in any form whether physical or mental is never easy. It takes a lot of courage and strength to undergo changes that contribute to our overall development. There will be obstacles which can leave its indentations in our life. But the final outcome could be something as bright and beautiful as the moon that we see today. It stands above us with pride and is not afraid of showing its “imperfections” because, those said “flaws” get overlooked by the fact that people attain peace and enlightenment from the light that it illuminates upon us. Similarly in the case of humans, we should not be afraid of the flaws in us. We should rather embrace them. The marks left by the constant battles in life act as a symbol of our courage and bravery towards life’s difficulties. They would help us at times of fear mongering, reminding us the extent of our capabilities. After all what matters is the final result which is a much better, healed individual. The moon is 4.53 billion years old and is still performing the task of being the satellite of the earth. It has not stopped rotating and we are still seeing changes in its overall framework. That is also no different for us humans. The changes that we see in ourselves are never over. They can be slow but they are always on going. The result of it being that when we are enlightened, we can empathise with other people’s predicaments and help them in their own process of change as well. This continuous process of guiding each other would lead to the formation of a well-developed world where people can embrace they’re real selves and would not be suffocated by compulsions.
The moon goes through a lot of changes while rotating around the earth. From being a New Moon to a Full Moon, it undergoes many, different phases of change. Its shape changes according to its position getting lit by the sun. Hence, in case of human beings, we also go through certain phases in life, both positive and negative. These phases or rather changes are short-lived and is always replaced by something new. The negative phases teach us the importance of having a well-fulfilled positive life. So, we should never feel overwhelmed by the hard times and focus more on overcoming it. We should keep on trying to build a good life for ourselves and for the people we love. If we keep on striving, we can definitely achieve happiness. And while we are living in the phase of happiness we can build enough strength to face our upcoming hurdles. When we look back and reminisce the several phases of life that we have overcome, it would make us feel contented at the end of our lifetime, and that is what we want. Contentment is co-related with happiness. The completion of all phases means the completion of a full circle. It creates the possibility of a new journey and the process will go on forever.
Life is round. It’s a full circle. When we think about the end of the possibility of a creation we can also think about redoing it again. Sometimes when life makes us keep things unfinished, later it gives us opportunities to accomplish those things again. Such was the case for Helen Keller. Helen Adams Keller was an American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer. Born in West Tuscumbia, Alabama, she lost her sight and her hearing after acquiring an illness at the age of nineteen months. When life took away her abilities of hearing and vision, it felt like the end of her own circle of life. But it wasn’t. Instead it was the beginning of the creation of such an inspiring person, who would later be remembered by the whole world. A person who would turn out to be a role model for millions of individuals who want to fulfil their aspirations. Helen was a true pioneer of her time. Being a woman living in the early 20th century, she was very political and carried a radical mind set. She went on to become a world-famous author and speaker, whose main focus was to speak out for people with disabilities. She advocated for people impaired by vision and for women’s right to vote in elections. She also co-founded the American Civil Liberties Union. By looking at her life we can understand that if we are able to witness a new opening from closure in our lives, then not only are we able to empower ourselves but also empower other people on the way. Helen not only created a great and purposeful life for herself, but also had tried to create better opportunities for numerous people like her. Her contributions towards the welfare of mankind will never be forgotten.
The moon and life go hand in hand in showing us the depths that things hold within us. Life is as round as the moon and both, when completes a circle, creates something new. The moon creates another beautiful phase and life creates another opportunity. The circle denotes that one can feel that they have attained conclusion, but life has the power to bring them back to that exact point that they have left everything. Therefore, we can say that one should never stop trying and believing in themselves in their very own circle of life.
