I am Rapunzel, from the tower afar,
Of the unheard songs and the unwitnessed scar,
Aloof, for drama never did interest me,
I would rather drown in fantasy.
Detached, not derailed, with my swag for company.
I am Rapunzel, holding the key to the lock,
Ain’t waiting for a fair knight to talk,
To trade my braid for freedom fake,
When the stairs are all that I need to take,
To embark on my journey, with my swag for company.
And I am Rapunzel, also on a bad hair day,
When dainty maids give in, chopping their tresses away,
I never really cared for the mirror on the wall,
My mind a window opening into the sky round the tower tall,
I enthral the stars, with my swag for company.
The world may judge as it does please,
Speculating the tale of my release,
But rest assured I was never bound,
Never lost, hence, never found,
I revel in mystery, with my swag for company.
