War
We have won! We have won! The lady inside heard the shouts echoing outside. She didn't know whether to shed tears of joy or lament her fate. Her brother had been fighting on one front, her husband on another. Whichever 'side' had won, didn't matter, she was lost..The war had torn her apart..forever..
Life
The silence after the train crash was deafening! Not even the sound of a breath could be heard..suddenly a shrill cry reverberated in the atmosphere, penetrating the stillness. A newborn's cry! Somewhere around the dying humanity, a life had given birth to a life..
Freedom
'The divorce is granted'. Both of them heard the words. Both of them got their freedom. The only difference...one of them longed for it and one of them dreaded it.
For one it meant celebration... and for the other lamentation. Freedom is a two sided coin then. Can be holy and can be evil Can become angel and can become devil!
Luck
Lucky Gal
He was cooking on Sunday...'you are a lucky gal' she heard her ma-in-law exclaim. She cooked everyday...'you are a lucky guy' never had she heard her ma-in-law exclaim.
His Side
Before 30
He came..
He saw..
He conquered..
Luck was by his side!
At 30
He lost all
Death was by his side!!
Heir-to-the-throne
The king divorced the love of his life...she couldn't give him a male child. He married again. As luck would have it, Heir-to-the-throne was born the same day the king was dethroned.
Coincindence
Match. He wanted to catch the match. Bike refused to shift, he cursed to the hilt. Desolate he turned on tv. Match had been cancelled, coincidentlly
Party
It was the one. He had a party to attend to. She had a confrence o attend. He wanted her to join the party. She did not want to join the party. Later she learned that she was close to where he was. To please him, she decided to surprise him! She reached grinning. She watched grimacing. Her 'hero' was slumped against the wall, stoned & sloshed! She was flabbergasted, then a happy thought flashed in her mind. She had reached, according to clock, simply not on time. She had reached, according to life, simply on time. Though it was a coincidence that she came. But it was the one, the life saving one
Books
How about a solitaire? He asked.
How about some books? She replied.
He- You sure?
She- My best friends forever..
Lovers
Lover A: My parents said that if you love me you will convert to my religion..
Lover B: Interestingly, my parents said the same thing!!
Lover A: I cannot do that..I my parents will be devastated..I cannot hurt my parents.
Lover B: Right you are.. don't do it then.
Lover A..So you will convert?
Lover B: I also cannot, my parent will be hurt too. Let us not pressurize each other on this issue...I don't see the need to convert at all.
Lover A: Look, I will not marry you unless, you convert.. I feel the same about it.
Lover B: So be it.. But how can you expect me to hurt my parents when you yourself are not willing to hurt yours...see let us get married, follow our respective religons and respect each other's..
Lover A: That is not possible..you will have to convert, my religon is supreme and everything to me..
Lover B: Sorry, I will not convert..however better your religon is, mine is important to me.
Lover A: You don't love me..
Lover B: Do, you love me ??
Adoption
'We would like to adopt a male child' I was told, earnestly.
'But you already have two lovely daughters' I replied, smilingly.
'Yes, but we would like to have a heir to our fortune'!! , A little uncomfortable..They were.
'Why can't your daughters be your heirs'?? A little puzzled..I was.
I did not get any answer, only a sheepish smile..
I tried to speak, to make a speech, instead I just got immensely sad..
They seemed educated, were rich, well mannered...the list continues..
They knew what all there is to know about girls..
The crux here is.. they did not need a talk from me or from any one on the matter.
However, I spoke and made a speech..in vain!
Their decision was made.!!
Sighing, I took out the adoption form, from inside the drawer and placed it silently on the table. While waiting for them to fill it up I looked at them and wondered..
Birth of a girl.. Why it is still bemoaned!!
Is it fair to take away her right and hand it over to the boy !!
By all means adopt a child..but why discriminate..
So on and so forth...
There are many questions, I don't think I get any answers..but I will continue raising them...
Sounds cliche'd, but while we like to show that we have progressive living standards, our thoughts are still regressive..
Do not we need to shed such inhibitions and break free from the shackles that bind us??
