I wish I could show you what I see.
I wish I could paint you a picture that does it justice.
The morning hues of blues and light tinted orange
The shimmering lights sparkling in a distance
Coming on one by one as if in an attendance call.
The haze clearing and the mist misting over
As the early morning rays of bright orange
slowly replace the dark and then the light blue.
The little chirps and twitters have begun
Just as excited in pitch and tone as they were yesterday and the days before.
The slight morning breeze sends a shiver of anticipation
down my spine just as it did yesterday and the days before.
Where I am now and was yesterday
May not be where I get to stay tomorrow
Or even want to be.
But as I see the oft-repeated signs in the sky
Bringing me joy in their constancy
I know and I sense the changes ahead,
New paths and new pastures
Waiting for me to sigh as I picture them and then live them.
I wish I could show you what I see.
I wish I could paint you a picture that does it justice.
For tomorrow, though I may still see it all
The joy that I bask in may come from another place.
