I am what I am,
Let me be the way I am.
I croon for the sake of joy,
I sing for myself to enjoy.
What if I am not a star,
Constant cribbing makes my heart char.
Can I not be what I am,
And still be loved for the way I am.
Don’t I have the right to be,
Right to be the way I am?
It is difficult to come to terms,
As each passing moment I squirm.
I do not dare to give a damn,
And silently sulk to be accepted the way I am.
All these years I kept on aligning,
Stifling all my urges to keep smiling
But something inside is burning hot,
To make the way for what I ought.
Breaking the shackles from where I am,
To live a life as what I am..
I trust the day is sure to arrive,
When the universe would connive.
To make way for what I am,
And still be loved for the way I am.
