Looking at a night sky filled with stars

I wondered lying back on the grass

Was that a whirr and a snicker?

Did I see a spark and a flicker?

A ball bounced down glowing red

I stared, my heart filled with dread.

The ball cracked and out they came

Little yellow men with hair aflame

Flapping blue wings, they came for me

Purple-pink eyes filled with glee

Not a place that I could hide or run

They marched forward and I was done

‘Aliens!’ I stuttered, choked with fear

Stretched my hands but no help was near

‘Wake up! Wake up!’ It was my mother.

Was it only a dream? Oh, what a bother!
