A stranger came to my door at eve...

Looking at him made my heart skip a beat...

Even before he entered I felt he must not leave...

His coming seemed like a long due treat...

Just standing there he gave me dreams to weave...

I would have forgotton to drink and to eat...

The thought of losing him made me grieve...

This meeting was so sweet...

It seemed that he came with a missive...

Gladly and readily I stood there to greet...

Happily and joyously, I prepared my self to receive...

The one who would have made me meet...

The one who could have made me achieve...

In frost and in heat...

some happiness, long due, I believe.

I deemed it no less than a feat.

Alas! how could I perceive...

He was a liar and a cheat.

That he was here to fool me, to simply deceive!
