Many authors from Readomania would lend their voices to this festival. Radhika Maira Tabrez, Piyusha Vir, Deepti Menon, Anupama Jain, Lakshana Palat, Amrita Mukherjee, and Sutapa Basu will be speaking on various topics.
“Women in Literature Festival 2021 (WLF) by Ananke is a wonderful initiative to celebrate the achievements of women writers. I am looking forward to participating in this Festival of Women in Literature.”
- Sutapa Basu, author of Padmavati, The Legend of Genghis Khan, and The Curse of Nader Shah
The event aims to look at literature from a gender perspective. In this new world, there is a greater need to emphasize the role women have played in the field of the arts and literature specifically.
"Platforms like WLF21 help bring women's issues, achievements, and contributions where they rightly belong - front and center. I am excited to be part of these conversations that will help take the cause of women empowerment forward; in a world that needs it now, more than ever."
- Radhika Maira Tabrez, author of ‘In The Light of Darkness’, ‘The Emancipation of Farzana Siddique’
Talking about the event, Ananke’s Founder and Executive Editor, Sabin Muzaffar said: “I really do think we need a continuous, inclusive and diversity-focused conversation about literature especially during these trying times of the Pandemic. This can perhaps instill humanism in all of us, which is under threat and being eroded on a daily basis. And by the pandemic, I am not just referring to COVID19, but also the pandemic of hatred, discrimination, and racism against those who do not look like us.”
“Women's Lit Fest by Ananke will examine the various facets of the literary world with a gender lens and an ethos of inclusion. The empowering themes resonate strongly. I look forward to learning, imbibe and assimilate from these splendid change-makers!”
- Anupama Jain, author of ‘When Padma Bani Paula’ and ‘Masala Mix’
