Being animal lovers and rescuers, we come across so many animals on our way they not only become an integral part of our lives but leave behind so many memories that last a lifetime. They attract us and clutch at our heartstrings.
Sometimes they are destined to come into our lives and it feels right. There are many reasons for the same, it could be because as street animals they have led a tough life, we see them daily scrounging for leftovers, fighting over a piece of bread, and digging into the garbage can for a bite, many times we see them drinking dirty filthy water from gutters and sometimes they are chased away, beaten and hurt.
But as time passes by and we feed them daily and they see us as saviors and are no longer scared of us, we become so accustomed to their presence that if we don’t see them for a day we panic and search all over. Then comes the feeling of relief when we see them running towards us and we are confused as to whether we should cry out with joy, hug, and kiss them.
Sometimes we encounter a sick, injured dog lying there scared, helpless with a pitiful look, without giving a thought we bend down to pat them, gently console them and then their little tails begin to wag and another one finds its way into our hearts to stay forever.
Our hearts overflow with joy, and tears on seeing a paralyzed dog struggling to take its first step slowly and then looking up to you saying,” hey can you see me I did it” and once again our heart somersaults. Many times it’s a pair of eyes that melt you when you see the thanks that they feel for making them safe and rescuing them. Then there are those that get to you because they are just so naughty and cheeky that we just can’t stop falling in love with them over and over again.
It’s true they sometimes break our hearts but in the end, we feel just so lucky that we met them and they became a part of our lives even if it was just for a short time leaving behind cherished memories that we will remember lifelong.
