I tore my eyes away from Orange is the New Black and shut the laptop. The house was too silent. Where was everybody? The ten-year-old was downloading his latest favorites from the iTunes to the Mac. The five-year-old was killing green pigs with little red birds on the iPad. My husband was checking his email on his iPhone. Four People. Four Rooms. Four Screens. I switched off the Wi-Fi and sat on the couch silently. I couldn’t have sent out the message any louder. All the eyes lifted up and glared at me.
