The window of the hotel room looked out to rows of palm trees. Their gentle sway seemed to keep count with the man on top of her. She loved him passionately. She knew she shouldn’t be here; she knew she couldn’t have him. Still, she wanted him to feel at least a speck of what she felt. As he breathed one last sigh and rolled over beside her, she asked him, “Are you telling me the truth? Is there no one else in your life now?”
“No… Why would I be here if there was someone else?” He said and pulled her into his arms.
She felt something break inside her. He was not here for her. She was not a piece of his heart; she was just a temporary part that fitted till the permanent one came along.
