Author Overview
Monica Singh is a voracious bibliophile. A scientist turned storyteller, she exchanged Bunsen Burners, beakers, and test tubes for the allure of the written word. She writes so others can find comfort and acceptance in her words, just like she has in the words of so many others before her. Her debut novel ‘The Pause’, a collection of seven poignant stories inspired by real-life experiences, was published as part of the Covid Diary Writing Challenge in September 2022. Many of her stories are a part of national and international anthologies with Pothi Publishers, Indie Earth Publishing, Notion Press, The Hive Publishers, and Zero Degree Publishing. In addition to her fiction work, Monica’s insightful book reviews, articles, and opinion pieces on women’s issues, parenting, mental health, and societal challenges in the Indian context have garnered widespread readership on prominent online platforms including Women’s Web, Youth Ki Awaaz, The She Saga, and Mean Pepper Vine magazine. Beyond her role as an author, Monica dons the hat of a professional editor, operating freelance under the moniker @kitabidarzi and serving as the Chief Editorial at Penmancy. She has lent her expertise to curate and edit numerous anthologies and novels, collaborating with accomplished authors on both fiction and nonfiction projects. Monica is also the visionary behind the #payitforward movement on her YouTube channel @ofwordsandblues, where she shines a spotlight on artists from diverse backgrounds, sharing their stories and creations with a global audience. In her free time, she enjoys reading Epic Fantasy literature, a relentless onslaught of horror and crime thrillers. Currently, she lives in Hyderabad, India, with her husband, Rahul, and her ginger tomcat Loki.
